Salty Mamina inspo

Nonnie OG--my beautiful mother

Mom,

The matriarch who inspired Salty Mamina

GArlic Salt, Love, and Tradition

When Mom was born in 1924 her uncle wrapped her up in a blanket, rushed over to the general store and weighed her on a vegetable scale. “10 lbs, 4 oz,” he pronounced! Can you imagine the way life was back then? I can just picture my mom wrapped up like a cherub <3—a little bundle swinging on the scale.

Mom grew up in a small wooden house up on a hill. She grew up in a big family, resources were limited, but they had what they needed. Good food, a clean house, and loving parents. They were isolated up there on that hill, and they really did have to walk a mile to school in the snow, but they had what they needed. In the backyard, there was a chicken coop filled with chickens, a vegetable garden, and delicious food on the table flavored by Nonnie’s special garlic salt.

Keeping the garlic salt tradition alive

Things have changed a little since my mother was a kid. One thing that hasn’t - is the way I season my food—the way Nonnie and Mom did—using our special garlic salt recipe that’s been passed down through generations of my family.

My grandmother Nonnie

Nonnie,

My inspo used fresh, all natural ingredients to feed her family, and it started with her special garlic salt.

Hard work, love, and GArlic salt

My grandmother Nonnie kept her family happy in that little house on the hill. She was joyful when at the end of the day her family sat at the table happy and nourished. Nonnie spent her time pulling from the garden, making garlic salt, cooking for her family, and caring for her home.

Nonnie fed her family from the earth using garden vegetables, fresh garlic grown from seed, and the chickens weren’t pets, either…Intent on feeding her family delicious and healthy home cooking, Nonnie created a garlic salt seasoning that made everything taste delicious—from polenta to beef stew, to meatballs, chicken wings, and sauce—everything she cooked was tasty thanks to her homemade garlic salt.

Keeping the garlic Salt tradition alive

Today, I’m keeping the garlic salt tradition alive in honor of Mom and Nonnie. I cook fresh and pure food using all natural ingredients. And of course, I season with my all natural garlic salt—the way Nonnie and Mom did.

Pure & natural garlic salt ingredients

I make Nonnie OG’s homemade garlic salt using the same ingredients Nonnie and Mom did—fresh garlic, a little salt and a little pepper. Today, I choose local, organic garlic, pristine unrefined sea salt and whole peppercorns that I grind fresh with every batch.

Kudos to my salty mamina inspo

I learned from Nonnie and Mom how to make delicious home cooked meals the easy way using Nonnie' OG’s Homemade garlic salt. Nonnie used simple, fresh, all natural ingredients to feed her family. Mom did too. Now I do too, and it all started with Nonnie’s garlic salt.

Tips to seasoning with Garlic Salt

Nonnie OG’s versatility makes it an every day kitchen staple. Its fine powder grind makes it a perfect pinch to use while cooking as well as a finishing salt.
